Students tend to sit in the same place each lesson and are naturally grouped in ability levels, those of a higher ability tend to sit together and vice a versa. This is useful as it allows for differentiation by content, students carried out driscoll reflective model example same task using different items. Various objects were placed on the desks prior to students entering the class, driscoll reflective model example. students were in groups of sitting around tables.

Each desk had the same number of objects as students. Using post it notes students were given 10 minutes to identify and label each object while the teacher moved around the class giving guidance. After 10 minutes groups were told they must now explain the purpose of each object but were allowed to nominate one object to swap with another group before starting.

This took around 15 minutes, allowing 5 minutes at the end for each group to select one object to driscoll reflective model example the rest of the class. By the end the majority of students were confident to discuss a chosen component with the group. I would definitely repeat this activity in the future but it could be improved. The layout of the classroom could have been thought out as the layout was more set up for a teacher led lesson than a student group led session, therefore some students were not able to see each other.

Some lower abilities struggled to name components even with the teachers support, in the future the could be given pre-made labels to help simplify the task. In addition to this the support staff did not have a deep enough understanding of the subject to successfully inform students and sometimes provided incorrect information, therefore in the future support staff could in driscoll reflective model example be provided with a support document in order to assist with students.

A great start to reflection. You have considered what worked well and ways to improve for the future. Just add them in brackets to the end of a sentence where a standard is met. You are commenting using your WordPress. com account. You are commenting using your Google account.
